Location : 126 Stuyvesant Place (SI Family Justice Center)

Position Status : Full time, Temporary (60 days from 5/26/25 with possibility of extension or permanent placement)

FLSA Status : Non-Exempt

Pay Rate: The pay rate for this role ranges between $20-22.50 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Community Health Action of Staten Island (CHASI) drives dramatic improvements in the health of New Yorkers by feeding people who are hungry, healing families broken apart by violence, and bridging the gaps between people and the compassionate health care they deserve. CHASI provides outreach, education, prevention, and direct support services for populations most affected by health disparities – people with low or no income, low-income people with chronic illnesses, people with criminal justice involvement, people who use drugs, domestic violence survivors, people of color, and the LGBTQ community.

POSITION SUMMARY :

The Domestic Violence & Trauma Services Program offers a comprehensive suite of services to survivors of domestic violence with enhanced focus on education and linkage to health & wellness through both individual and group counseling supportive services. CHASI works in collaboration with the Staten Island Family Justice Center to expand reach and capacity. Services are primarily provided at the Staten Island Family Justice Center (FJC) with some provided at 26 Bay St, Staten Island, NY.

The Domestic Violence (DV) Case Manager will deliver crisis intervention services and help clients navigate the systems that survivors encounter, such as Children’s Services and the police. The DV Case Manager will possess a strong knowledge of community resources and will assist clients with referrals and linkage to emergency shelter placements, permanent housing, long-term counseling, public assistance, Office of Victim Services application, and other social services and will work in multi-disciplinary teams and collaborate and communicate with FJC Administrative Staff and with other onsite FJC providers as needed to assist each client.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Conduct initial comprehensive intake, safety planning, and risk assessments with clients.
  • Navigate the client to execute their service plans, including making active referrals, accompany clients to various appointments, provide coaching to clients, deliver weekly or monthly education encounters, plan out logistics for plan adherence reminders, assist with transportation to get to and from appointments.
  • Provide trauma-informed education about domestic violence and all forms of gender-based violence.
  • Contact clients via phone, text, and email should they fail to attend appointments or stray from documented service planning to re-engage the client.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments and external partners.
  • Collect and submit data. Document all case management activities in accordance with guidelines and standard procedures.
  • On a weekly basis, review and update the program client list, deliverable tracker, and internal database.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings and trainings as assigned.
  • Align all activities with CHASI’s mission, core values, and culture.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • At least 2 years of experience working with culturally diverse and vulnerable populations who have experienced trauma. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to engage and serve the domestic violence population from a trauma-informed perspective and have strong engagement and follow-up experience.
  • Associate Degree required. Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or other related field may supplement for up to 1 year of experience listed above.
  • Fluency in Spanish highly preferred.
  • Have familiarity with orders of protection and navigation of the criminal and family court systems.
  • Must have basic knowledge regarding HIV, HCV, STI, PEP/PrEP and Harm Reduction methods.
  • Excellent MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and internet navigation skills.
  • Experience collaborating within a multi-disciplinary, diverse team, maintaining a healthy work environment that encourages equity, professionalism, respect, diversity, and continuous professional growth and improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team; be team player with shared responsibility and accountability; ability to contribute to a positive, productive, open, and supportive environment that motivates others to perform at their best.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including capability to listen and follow instructions; able to give, provide direction and follow up on task; high attention to detail and accuracy. Be highly organized and able to multitask.
