Job DescriptionJob Description Estimator – Underground Utilities A dynamic and rapidly growing Underground Utility contractor needs an Estimator experienced in underground utility projects. The rapid growth of our client company has created the demand for a self-starter who can step in and immediately estimate both large and small projects. This dynamic company provides an exciting, fun, and fast paced environment to work in as well as competitive base compensation. Work out of Merced or San Jose. Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

• Accurate and timely completion of quantity take-offs and estimates for jobs of all types of underground utility projects.
• Write bid proposals for large and small underground utility projects.
• Provide the field administrator with a fully completed Job Cost Sheet.
• Establish relationships with as many potential bidders.
• Maintain current material and subcontractor pricing.
• Participate in plan and specifications reviews.
• Effectively manage and control the bidding process.
• Provide upper management with reports on bids won/lost with variances.
• Meet productivity goals for bids produced, bids won and margin of error.
• Create a dynamic work environment with the potential responsibility of building the department.
• Maintain excellent communication and relationship with work crews and your supervisor.
• Maintains product knowledge of existing and new products and services.
• Gathers and forwards information on competitor activities

Essential Requirements:

• Verifiable 3 years of experience estimating all facets and types of underground utility water, sewer and gas projects.
• High School Diploma or GED is required
• Proven ability to read and understand all types of take-offs, blueprints plans and specifications
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with contractors, colleagues, supervisors, and project stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills are essential in a fast-paced environment.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills to convey information effectively.
• Fluency in English is required; fluency in Spanish is a bonus but not required.
• Ability to work well in a team and present confidently in high-pressure situations.
• Strong composure and professionalism in stressful situations.
